Dear Parents and Students of the Class of 2013,
The Auction committee is planning the 8th grade Auction. The Auction is the largest fundraising event and traditionally yields $15,000 to defray the final cost of the 8th grade trip. The Auction is held on a Saturday evening in the fall. The 8th grade trip is an amazing opportunity. The students visit New York City, Philadelphia, Gettysburg, and Hershey Park. Last years’ trip cost about $910 per student. As with all fundraisers for the class, a point system is used to award money based on the participation of students and their parents. If your child will fundraise for the trip, it is worth it to participate in the Auction!
The Auction Committee is asking each student to secure four (4) auction items. In the past, successful donations included tickets to sporting events, dinners in local restaurants, gift certificates, hand-made items, art work from Island artists, hotel stays, unique experiences and services such as house cleaning, yard work, babysitting, and snow plowing (etc.). Every four items constitutes a share; example, six items would be 1.5 shares; eight items would be 2 shares, etc. Shares can also be earned for helping that evening during the auction and helping on the committee. We need lots of help now and in the fall.
Attached to this letter please find one donation solicitation. Fill out the top portion and return with your donation. Please give the bottom portion to the donor for tax purposes. Additional sheets and auction information can be found on a link at the school’s webpage, oakbluffsmv.weebly.com.
In order to prevent duplication of auction item requests, we plan to streamline information by using Google docs. There are three ways to let the auction committee know what you’ve secured:
1. Google Docs
2. Email email@example.com
3. Call 508-693-4797 Debbie DeBettencourt
Our goal is to have 150 items by August 15th. We will need to hear from everyone by this date to know how much more will be needed. A future email will provide details about the collection of auction items.
Please let us know if you and your child will be participating or not and the best way to communicate with you - via email, letter or phone. Thank you in advance for your help in making this another great Class of 2013 event.
